Two of his biggest tracks, ‘Weekend’ and ‘Bango (To the Batmobile)’ were released as the Todd Terry Project, and many of his releases that followed were also released under pseudonyms. Todd’s passion and expertise for the genre led to him founding his own record label, ‘Freeze Records’ that would go on to house some of Todd’s most important releases.
His string of underground hits led to his very own residency at London’s iconic Ministry of Sound club where he played to thousands of house lovers every week. Then in the mid 90’s, Ministry of Sound’s eponymous UK label released A Day In The Life, a collection of Todd Terry tracks that had caused a stir in the clubs. This led the way to a deal with Mercury Records, allowing Todd to set up a context in which to work with his favourite singers and performers. It also resulted in his remix of Everything But The Girl’s ‘Missing’, which hit top 10s all around the world, including in the US where it narrowly missed the number one spot.
Todd followed this with a selection of tracks that married classic house production with accessible vocals, including the club classic ‘Somethin Going On’ that hit the UK Top 5. Meanwhile, he continued to develop his roster of remix productions for huge global artists including Janet Jackson, Bjork and George Michael.
Todd continues to tour globally, attracting huge crowds to his shows. Known as ‘Todd The God’, Todd Terry is incomparable as a DJ, producer and remixer, and 51st State are hyped to be bringing him to the stage this year.
